Olaf Palm Signed and Numbered Print Lot #10

Olaf

Signed and numbered (588/800) lithograph print by Olaf Palm, "Now you see it, now you don't".

The original version of this painting from 1969 was a seascape based on a photo of Big Sur by Ansel Adams. An art patron commissioned Olaf to make the painting, but upon delivery, he rejected it. Not one to waste a good canvas, the idea to salvage the image came to Palm in a flash. He transformed it by adding a window and a house painter on a scaffold, as if he were on the side of a building, painting over the seascape with white paint. Knowing Olaf, this was probably meant to be a subtle commentary on the patron's bad judgment, as well as a good visual joke.
Artwork is 17" x 28" in size, framed.
