This luxury boutique hotel was originally a home, built by William Kelley in 1882 as a wedding present for his daughter Daisy. Beautifully restored, this three-story tower boasts spectacular, unobstructed views of the Mendocino Bay. The tower sleeps four, with a queen bed on the top floor and a king bed on the ground floor. On the middle floor is a luxurious bathroom with spa tub/shower and a dry sauna. The first floor also has a gas fireplace, a half bath, and a peek-a-boo view of the original hand-dug well which you can see through thick glass inset into the floor.
On this private tour for four, you’ll learn why Mendocino earned the nickname as “The Town of Water Towers.” Built in the late 19th Century to supply water to the town’s inhabitants, over 100 water towers and accompanying windmills once adorned the landscape. Your Kelley House guide will walk you around town and share the stories behind a dozen or so of the most interesting towers still standing.
Your water tower overlooks the majestic Mendocino Bay, so learn more about the abundant life under the sea. Led by a naturalist from the Noyo Center for Marine Science, you’ll enjoy whale and bird-watching while learning all about the diverse marine life off of our gorgeous coast.
