Artist Statement - I paint because it gives me joy and an indescribable sense of balance and satisfaction that I can only experience though the act of creating. I am awe-inspired by the colors, contrasts, shapes, textures, and vibrant energy found in nature. Living near the Adirondacks, we are blessed with an abundance of natural majestic beauty. My intent is to capture and convey the impressions, emotions and all that one experiences in the presence of natural beauty.

My artwork is primarily abstract, acrylic, mixed media painting with multi-dimensional, highly-textured design incorporating organic, man-made or found materials including metals, glass, gemstones, wood, bark, leaves, granite, resin, clay, cloth, paper and more. I enjoy working and experimenting with a wide range of materials and styles to achieve evocative and visually stimulating pieces that compel the viewer to reach out and touch the textures. Many of my pieces include artifacts I have gathered and hand-picked along my walks in the woods and natural surrounds to incorporate into one-of-a kind creations.

Artist Bio

I am a self-taught artist and began this journey approximately 9 years ago. Initially, I started painting to satisfy an immense desire to experiment and create and as a way to express my thoughts and feelings without words (a reaction to the enormous amount of reading, writing and left-brain thinking that is required in my business-focused career roles).

Although I have sold a number of pieces with some commissions over these past few years, I have only recently begun to fully embrace and pursue my passion as a painter and an artist. I'm still exploring and finding my voice; but I think I will always be curious and experimenting so I expect my evolution will follow a widely meandering path."
