NYS Museum collectible vintage books Lot #69


This truly special collection includes two volumes each on New York State birds and wildflowers. The books have their original green cloth bindings, and there is some light foxing to page edges and endpapers. Total value = $150. Donated by Dennis Holzman Antiques.

Includes:

  • The New York State Museum Memoir 15: Wild Flowers of New York is a two-volume work by Homer D. House, State Botanist. Includes 264 color plates. Slight foxing on pages. This collection was previously owned by Winifred Goldring, an American geologist and paleontologist who worked at the NYS Museum for over 30 years, and features her custom bookplate on each of the inside covers.


  • The New York State Museum Memoir 12: Birds of New York is a two-volume ornithological work by Elon Howard Eaton, published by the University of the State of New York in 1910 and 1914. The memoir details bird species found in New York, providing information on their characteristics, habitats, migration, and distribution, and features illustrations and color plates. This classic work is considered a valuable resource for ornithology and is available in antique and used book markets.
