One winner and up to 14 guests are invited on a special tour of Strawberry Fields Nature Preserve in Amsterdam with Jeff Leon, landowner and preserve steward. Guests will join Jeff on a hike of the preserve's 3 miles of trails and learn about the property's rich history, biodiverse habitats, and net zero carbon homestead. The tour can be scheduled for any time of year, though summer and early autumn provide the best viewing opportunities for butterflies and flowers.

Strawberry Fields Nature Preserve is unique among the MHLC preserves. The 118 acres are privately owned and protected with a conservation easement by Jeff and his wife, Judy, who opened Strawberry Fields Nature Preserve to the public in 2017. In addition to the public preserve, which is visited by thousands each year, the property also contains the Leon family homestead and Lovin’ Mama Farm, which grows hundreds of varieties of vegetables, fruits, and flowers sold at farmer's markets around the region.

For botanists, bird-watchers, and cross-country skiers, Strawberry Fields has a wide variety of features no matter the season. This gem in the Mohawk River valley has flat, wide trails through farm fields that provide ample opportunity for hikers and a wealth of wildflowers to stop and admire.
