A unique piece with a unique story
This stunning, one-of-a-kind bowl is hand turned and carved from a solid piece of sugar maple using a variety of techniques. It starts on the lathe and is then finished with carving tools. The bottom of the piece is etched with designs inspired by the wood, and finished with all-natural milk paint, dyes, and natural oils. 16" x 1.5" x 1.5"

In honor of Arbor Day
The Sugar Maple tree used to craft this bowl was harvested from a farm that is conserved in perpetuity through Saratoga PLAN. The tree reached the end of its safely viable life expectancy after well over 80-100 years on the farm. So, the difficult decision was made to safely cut it down and maximize beneficial use of this tree.

Sections are being used for crafting of beautiful wood items such as this bowl, with the remainder going for firewood to heat a home, and the small branches chipped for use as mulch. Now this space on the farm is clear for a young tree to be planted to start the life cycle of a tree all over again.
