Ian Fouts was born in San Diego, California in 1982 and currently lives and works in Olympia, Washington with his wife and four children.  

His artwork is largely inspired by the natural surroundings of the Northwest and is greatly influenced by the landscape art on display in the numerous galleries in Big Fork, Montana he visited as a child while on summer vacation.

Ian’s innate talent was recognized at a young age by his family and school teachers.  He was encouraged to enroll in advanced art classes in high school and he soon developed a passion for producing realistic landscape scenes in both watercolor and oil.  He also demonstrated a talent for rendering realistic portraits in pencil.

He joined the Army shortly after graduating high school in 2001 with the intent to study Game Art and Design at the Art Institute of Portland.  However, world events that year altered the course of his life and he decided to reenlist.  Ian recently retired from the Army after 20 years of active service and is currently pursuing a career as a professional pilot.
