Olympic Orca Sunset (small) Lot #18
This scene of an Orca pod is carved on wood. The wood grain and colors provide a backdrop of sunset in the Olympic Mountains. The orca pod was carved into the wood and then burned. A light pine stain and a semi-gloss clear coat was used to bring out the wood grain. Orcas are well-known charismatic megafauna within the Puget Sound ecosystem. Salmon is a critical food source for the Orcas. The Puget Sound has its own population of Orcas that is threatened by declining salmon populations.
