Glass Serveware - Custom Designed Functional Art Lot #2

  • Glassware
  • Glassware%20cu1
  • Glassware%20cu2

The art glass design was inspired by the dynamic nature of water in Puget Sound - its ever-changing colors, texture and movement with various blues for sky/water and areas of clear curvy pieces of glass to represent the wave action in water plus some white accents for white caps.  Each piece of art glass is fused together in a kiln and fired three different times.  Three different temperatures. The first, the hottest, is what melts the glass background and pieces of colored sheet glass together.  The second, a lower temperature, is when the glass ‘pebbles’ (actual term is ‘frit’) are added to keep their rounded shape as they are fused onto the other glass. The third, and final firing, is hot enough to ‘slump' the glass into molds to achieve the plate/platter form.

Handwashing recommended. In addition to hand washing, they are not to be used in the oven.  They are not cookware.  But serve ware.  Or for ornamental use.

Kim melds the intrinsic beauty of iridescent hand-made glass with the movement of brushed metal(s) for residential and commercial installations.  The dynamic nature of dancing light on multiple textures provides an ever-changing visual experience.  Every viewing angle, in every lighting situation, presents a “different” sculpture – with shadows, reflections, and silhouettes as hallmarks of each dynamic piece.

Specializing in site-specific designs, these one-of-a-kind “glass scapes” delight clients with their distinct moods and personalities.  Kim’s artistic interpretation of your site and interests will add an element of ever-changing elegance to your interior design.
