On a midnight kayak, in the south Puget Sound, I waved my hand in the cold water and like magic, the plankton released their luminous display.  Blue neon sparkles trailed behind.  I imagine fish under my boat gliding through the cold water with trails of blue glitter washing over then vanishing into the darkness again.
