Bike with Bryan! Green River Trails to Whittier Greenway with Nature for All Program Organizer, Bryan Matsumoto Lot #42

Auction%20item%20highlights%20(1)

Biking, hiking and native plant enthusiast Brian Matsumoto
Bryan Matsumoto will organize a fun outing for you and up to 4 people on this great bike route for fresh air, relaxation, exercise and rejuvenation!

Activity and difficulty level can be tailored to participants' interests and ability. Family-friendly: Can be shortened if needed. Duration: Normally a leisurely 4-5 hours including lunch stop, but certainly can organize a shorter ride if requested.

Route:
Come discover a hidden gem in the San Gabriel Valley! This is one of my favorite intermediate-level biking routes in Los Angeles. We'll start at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte, take the Rio Hondo Bike Path south and connect to the San Gabriel River Bike Path - and make our way to the Whittier Greenway - a total hidden gem! This Rails-to-Trails project took a defunct train track right-of-way and created a landscaped bike path with art sculptures, bridges, interpretive kiosks which passes safely right through the city. In total, it's a green, pleasant ride. We'll pass through several different river trail areas and see our region in a whole new way.

A intermediate rider will be fine on this route and get a healthy, leisurely workout. There are no big hills. If beginner riders, we will need to shorten this route.

Lunch option: Bring your own, or possibly eat lunch outdoors (your cost) at a restaurant in Uptown Whittier. To be arranged with participant(s).

Covid safety. Have your mask available at all times. While riding I try to keep my mask on for occasions when others are passing by. We will be outdoors the whole time so can keep our safe distancing and if want to ride with masks off I ask that you keep a distance. But since we're going as a group we do need to stay reasonably together.

You need to have: bikes, helmets, patch kits, spare tube, etc. I'm by no means a bike repairperson so if we get a flat we've gotta figure it out together. (Hoping you've learned how) I have a small portable hand pump if needed.

Looking forward to getting out and having a good time!

We’ll send you an email alert if someone outbids you.
