Artist Bio:
Mariah Kaminsky brings warmth, joy, and life to her paintings and murals. Raised in northern Indiana in a creative family, she developed a keen eye for detail, inspired by her great-great-grandfather, a glass etcher, and her parents’ craftsmanship. She studied Design and Technical Theater at Ball State University, launching a career as a scenic artist in Indiana, Maine and Arizona.
In 2001, Mariah moved to Durango, CO, and co-founded Durango Custom Works with her husband, applying her scenic expertise to murals and decorative finishes. By 2010, she shifted focus to fine art, specializing in realistic portraits. A member of the Portrait Society of America and the International Guild of Realism, she continues to refine her technique through studies with modern masters. Her work, often featuring children, floral trompe l’oeil, and the female form, blends classical and contemporary styles, radiating optimism and resilience.
Mariah lives in Durango with her husband, Jason, and their dog, Henry. When not painting, she enjoys hiking, camping, and traveling, always seeking fresh inspiration.
