Vanilla Ice-cream - Art Original Lot #35
The name of the artists' piece is “Vanilla Ice-cream.” It is a take on an old Jim Crow law which denied Vanilla ice-cream to Black people. The ice-cream as well as the figure being black is a way of turning that history on its head, vanilla beans being black and all. It is about the irony and the ridiculousness of racism, and the ecstasy that comes from beating it, even if in a small, mundane way.
Size of piece: 16in x 20in
