An introduction to the art of Flamenco rhythm and dance, brought to you straight from the source,... Andalucía! Learn palmas (hand clapping), taconeo (footwork), and the lyrical arm & hand movement (marcaje) - which accompanies this traditional Flamenco song from Southern Spain. Train your ears right along with your body by exploring the mysterious rhythmic patterns of the "compás."
•Women, men & young adults welcome
•No partner necessary
•Dance experience not required
•Recommended clothing: comfortable pants, tight fitting shirt (men); long flowing skirt and leotard (women). Shoes with closed toe and hard heel are encouraged!
About La Magdalena
With over 25 years experience in her craft, Magdalena can be found performing, choreographing, coaching and instructing in the Art of Flamenco all over the U.S. This is her 3rd year being awarded a fellowship for her work as a Teaching Artist.
