My artwork is a mythic retelling, utilizing motifs found in my persona, cultural, and spiritual history and the histories I share with people within the African diaspora. My goal is to immortalize the history of my subjects while positioning them in various positions of power. I inform my practice with Black American regional social and familial norms, diasporic histories, African and African American folklore, and literature. I use imagery like rhinestones, plants, mosaic tiles, glitter, and other material objects to create abstract and figurative mixed-media collages as paintings, printmaking, digital prints, sculptures, and installations.
