One year ago, on August 20, 2023, weeks after riding Pelotonia ‘23, Nan fell down a flight of basement steps head first. She could talk but could not move or feel anything below her mid chest level. She was emergently taken to the ER. The medical team did a CT and MRI which showed a C4 fracture, leaving her a quadriplegic.
The past 365+ days have tested Nan’s mental and physical strength. In true Nan spirit, she smiles away as she fights to improve daily. She is one determined lady.
She has endured an extreme amount of testing and therapy over the past year and has been re-diagnosed as having tetraplegia. Nan’s living and medical expenses are greater than her full-time salary, at The Ohio State University, The James, can support. She also sees the financial stress her situation has caused her three boys (each one The Ohio State University Brutus mascot) who are working hard to create their own lives and families.
Nan currently requires 24hour assisted living and a mobilized wheelchair to navigate her days. The road is long and challenging but Nan is determined to live independently, walk without assistance and return the love and care that so many have shown throughout this challenging time. Your kind support will help her achieve these goals.
Nan's friends, Tom and Luciana Ramsey and Frank and Deborah McKain are organizing this fundraiser for her. As you scroll to enjoy the online auction, please remember that 100% of the donations go directly to Nan's most urgent needs:
